Among all the other things that had happened to me this summer, I found myself on the quest to find a full-time job. I wanted to pose the following question: Why is finding a job so hard in today’s market?
It seems as if companies are looking for the ‘ideal’ person. If you have even the slightest flaw, then you are tossed to the curb. That is one of the reasons why I believe unemployment is so high now and especially high among people with epilepsy.
However, I offer a non-traditional way of thinking. Many people with epilepsy have many desirable assets such as:
- thinking outside the box
- dealing with complex problems and issues
- knowing how to cope with stress
This is only a start to what could be a long list of positive contributions that someone with epilepsy could bring to your organization. Why not take a chance?
