Epilepsy affects many returning war veterans

As a tribute to Veteran’s day and Epilepsy Awareness month, I will use the following article created by abc7.com to help uncover an important fact.  Many veterans return from war with battlefield injuries.  However, these injuries may result in epilepsy later in life.  According to abc7.com,

“We think that it’s approximately up to 20 percent of veterans are coming back with a traumatic brain injury,” said Dr. Christine Baca, VA West Los Angeles Medical Center. “Traumatic brain injury is a risk factor for developing epilepsy and seizures.”
