My Love/Hate Relationship with Coffee

A few weeks ago, I tried to gradually cut down on my caffeine.  I was planning on doing this by decreasing the amount by 2 cups per week.  Was this to ambitious?

How did it go?

  1. I felt ill.  I’m not sure if I got a cold or if this was some weird side effect from the caffeine withdrawal.  It felt just like the cold or flu.   I felt horrible for over a week.
  2. I felt irritable towards just about everyone, but I did my best to control myself.  There was no need to punish any innocent bystanders.
  3. The above two problems were pretty bad by themselves.  Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore and stopped.

Strategy?

I don’t really have a strategy now.  Some people have given me some great suggestions through this blog.   Maybe I just have to find the right time.   Maybe I just have to go ‘cold turkey’ and just stop drinking coffee.   If I take a vacation and stock up on Advil, I will eventually be fine.  Right?
