It is almost the end of January 2016, and time for another Virtual Coffee Date. Go ahead and grab a hot beverage, and I will tell you what has been happening. Make sure you have a large mug because I have a lot to tell you.
If we were having coffee right now, I would tell you that I had a tonic-clonic seizure the day after Christmas. As usual, it was in the early hours of the morning at around 1am. That is normal for me anyway. My sisters took me to the hospital’s emergency room because I had scratched myself. My glasses were also messed up. Fortuneately, some extremely nice people in an optical store fixed my glasses for free the next day!
If we were having coffee right now, I would tell you that the Emergency Room doctors found my depakote and calcium levels to be a little low. My neurologist had arranged for me to come in and have another blood test done. There were a few times when I took my medicine a little earlier for convenience sake. Sometimes I completely forgot and took them a few hours later. I did not think it was often enough to cause another seizure. Maybe I was wrong.
If we were having coffee right now, I would tell you I am more than a little anxious about the ER bill from this visit. I am not sure if my insurance will cover it. I wanted to blame the “citric acid” that I didn’t know was in a beverage that I drank a few hours before the incident. However, my neurologist will not let me get off that easily. I guess that is why I see her.
If we were having coffee right now, I would tell you that my semester has started again at my colleges. I ended up teaching fewer classes due to one of them have too few students. I need time to sort out my health issues, so this is probably a good thing.
If we were having coffee right now, I would tell you that the flight to see my family occurred without a single problem. The flight back also went without incident.
If we were having coffee right now, I would ask you about your holiday season. How did it go?
